When I was in China, I made many porcelain figures, simplified, but
still resembling me. They were unglazed, but little by little I was adding
black pigment to the liquid porcelain, to have a graduation from white to black.
Then I went to the streets and markets in Jingdezhen and Shanghai
and was selling them to Chinese people. I was quite surprised how
many people picked up the grey ones.
